Tame Malcolm recognised as Biosecurity Leader
Tame Malcolm’s decades of work was recognised recently as he was honoured with the AsureQuality Emerging Leader Award at the New Zealand Biosecurity awards, held in Wellington. The awards recognise organisations, volunteers, businesses, iwi, hapū, government, and tamariki around the country who are contributing to biosecurity – in our bush, oceans and waterways, and in our backyards.
The judges commented the following about Tame: “The judges were so taken with the diversity of entrants in this highly regarded category…but there was a clear and well-deserving winner that stood tall amongst all the emerging leaders. The nomination submitted for Tame was a testament to how he is regarded by his peers, colleagues and whānau. Tame demonstrates all the qualities of a truly outstanding leader. His commitment and passion to protect and enhance our environment and make a real difference to biosecurity is articulated in his mahi and his support for organisations. He understands the power of partnership. Aotearoa’s future is in good hands.”
Tame recognised his parents with instilling the values of te ao Māori and science, along with an inquisitive nature, and accepted the award on behalf of the communities within which he works. Congratulations and ngā mihi Tame – TTW are very proud to have such an environmental advocate at the heart of our mahi.
